Job Description
The Supportive Housing – Hope Street team are based at Brisbane Common Ground. Each element of Supportive Housing, from building to support service design, aims to create the greatest degree of empowerment and independence for people. Supportive Housing – Hope Street uses the Housing First model. The purpose of the onsite support team is to help tenants sustain stable housing by coordinating support based on individual needs. The team works alongside tenants to set and achieve goals, support independent living, and foster the development of strong support systems.
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Tenant Service Worker to join our Supportive Housing team at Brisbane Common Ground. This role provides day-to-day support, engagement, and assistance to tenants living in supportive housing, ensuring they can maintain stable accommodation, work toward personal goals, and access services that promote independence and wellbeing.
As part of a multi-disciplinary onsite team, the Tenant Service Worker will engage with tenants in common areas, at Concierge, and in their units, while contributing to a safe, respectful, and responsive environment.
The role involves shift work, including evenings, weekends, and nights, within a 24-hour roster, and shift times as below:
7am to 3pm
3pm to 11pm
11pm to 7pm
This is a casual engagement opportunity with conditions and salary at Level 2 of the SCHADS Award.
Desired Skills and Experience
Key Responsibilities
Engage respectfully and safely with individuals with varying degrees of trauma and/or be under the influence of substances, which may present in varying degrees of distress, frustration, or elevated behavioural responses
Provide support to tenants of Brisbane Common Ground as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Engage with tenants at Concierge, in common areas and in their units.
Managing roster/shifts (including nightshift)
Provide excellent customer service and problem solving in a high pressure environment.
Essential
Ability to negotiate with emotionally heightened people, using de-escalation skills.
Demonstrated commitment to upholding child and vulnerable adult safeguarding principles.
Demonstrated knowledge and use of IT systems including personal information and case management systems, data collection, Microsoft products.
A positive attitude, and the ability to work flexibly and proactively in a team environment and autonomously within program guidelines with a commitment to the values and principles of Micah Projects to meet community needs.
Desirable
Previous history of employment or study in the social and community services sector.
