Job Description
The Brisbane Domestic Violence Service (BDVS) is the specialist domestic violence service for the Brisbane metropolitan region. BDVS provides free and confidential services to adults and children impacted by domestic and family violence, with a focus on achieving safety and stability. Working from contemporary evidence-based best practice models, BDVS delivers crisis and case management, outreach, groups, safety planning, court support, information and referral, programs for men who perpetrate DFV, and psycho-social education.
As the BDVS Administration Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the operational and administrative functions of the Brisbane Domestic Violence Service. You will help ensure the smooth and efficient functioning of daily office operations, support frontline staff, and contribute to a professional, trauma-informed environment for participants. Working closely with the multidisciplinary team, you will provide administrative, data management, and coordination support that enables frontline workers to prioritise participant needs effectively.
This is a full-time employment opportunity at Level 4 of the SCHADS Award.
Desired Skills and Experience
Key Responsibilities:
Provide comprehensive administrative support including data entry, calendar management, document preparation, filing systems, and mail processes.
Coordinate multiple email accounts and front desk enquiries with professionalism, discretion, cultural sensitivity, and a strong commitment to participant confidentiality and safety.
Maintain participant records, meeting minutes, intake registers, reporting templates, and organisational databases in line with legal and organisational requirements.
Support team operations through meeting coordination, venue bookings, catering arrangements, resource management, and logistical support.
Uphold privacy, confidentiality, mandatory reporting, and domestic and family violence legislative requirements through trauma-informed and participant-centred practice.
Provide proactive support to frontline teams by identifying administrative improvements and contributing to effective day-to-day operations.
Essential Criteria
Relevant studies in Business/Administration and/or equivalent work experience.
Knowledge and understanding of the nature, dynamics, and impacts of domestic, family and sexual violence.
Advanced computer literacy and demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office, participant management systems, data collection, and reporting systems.
Strong interpersonal, communication, organisation, and time management skills, with the ability to build respectful relationships with participants, colleagues, and partner services.
Ability to work proactively and flexibly within a team environment and autonomously, with a commitment to the values and principles of Micah Projects.
Desirable Criteria
Experience working within the community services, domestic and family violence, social services, health, or not-for-profit sectors.
Understanding of integrated service responses and collaborative practice within the domestic and family violence sector.
Experience maintaining confidential records and supporting compliance and quality processes.
Experience coordinating office resources, supplies, and administrative systems.
