Micah Projects is a community based not-for-profit organisation with a vision to create justice and respond to injustice at the personal, social, and structural levels in church, government, business, and society. We believe that every child and adult has the right to a home, an income, healthcare, education, safety, dignity, and connection with their community of choice. Micah Projects provides a range of support and advocacy services to individuals and families.

Job Description

The Education, Connection & Healing Team enhances workforce capabilities within general practices and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Services in the southern region of Brisbane LGA. This program also evaluates referred patients who have suffered from domestic, family, sexual violence (DFSV), or child sexual abuse, facilitating triage to the most suitable support services. Additionally, the program strengthens system integration by fostering understanding and collaboration between the DFSV, child sexual abuse sectors, and the primary healthcare sector. It focuses on identifying and addressing systemic barriers that hinder the integration of primary healthcare into a coordinated response to DFSV and child sexual abuse.

The Local Link program provides a unique service, in supporting both general practices and their patients to effectively navigate the integrated service system to enable safety for victim-survivors of DFSV and child sexual abuse. As a Local Link Advocate - Child Sexual Abuse, you will work within the Local Link program as part of the broader Education, Connection and Healing team, providing direct supports to victim-survivors who have been referred by their GP. You will provide capacity-building support for general practices through both delivery of formal training, and the provision of case consultations to general practice staff including when co-located at general practices. You will work alongside our partner organisations (Centre for Women & Co. & YFS Ltd.) and develop key external stakeholder relationships to support the development of this pilot initiative.

This is a fixed term (until 30 June 2026), full-time employment opportunity with conditions and salary at Level 5 under the SCHADS Award.
