Job Description
The Building Hope and Homes project seeks to address the following objectives:
reduce barriers to people who use AOD accessing housing and homeless services, including by improving organisational policies and practices
improve access to health supports for people who use AOD and are in housing support services improve ability of people who use AOD and are experiencing or at risk of homelessness to achieve sustainable tenancies
facilitate shared understanding and approaches across housing and AOD systems of care
reduce stigma, discrimination and attitudes towards AOD use within the housing and homelessness sector
The project will develop and deliver a trauma-informed best practice model of care informed by evidence, data, lived experience and workforce insights for people with challenging AOD use who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness, focusing on individuals in social housing and subsidised rentals at risk of losing their tenancy, those excluded from accommodation, and families in crisis accommodation and at risk of not moving into permanent and safe housing due to behaviour influenced by alcohol and other drug (AOD) use.
The AOD Project Worker will be part of the Building Hope and Homes team within the Equity and Systems Change Cluster. This role focuses on developing and implementing a trauma-informed best practice model of care for individuals with challenging alcohol and other drug (AOD) use who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
This is a fixed term, 0.8FTE part time opportunity with conditions and salary at Level 5 of the SCHADS Award.
Desired Skills and Experience
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and report against a project plan.
Implement stakeholder mapping, engagement, and communications plans.
Conduct co-design activities/workshops to develop the model of care and outcome measures.
Document a trauma-informed best practice model of care integrating AOD specialist support within a sustaining tenancy and outreach team context.
Establish formal partnerships/agreements with AOD service providers.
Review and update relevant service policies and procedures.
Develop and disseminate training resources, including a formal learning program.
Facilitate learning forums to share insights and develop referral pathways and partnerships.
Liaise with evaluation partners and ensure appropriate data collection and project evaluation.
Promote a culture of respect, safety, and trauma-informed approaches.
Contribute to a safe workplace in compliance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
Essential Criteria:
Demonstrated ability in project planning, consultation activities, delivery, monitoring, and reporting.
Experience in co-designing, developing, and documenting models of care, service pathways, outcome measures, partnership agreements, policies, and training modules.
Knowledge of harm reduction frameworks and trauma-informed care principles.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including consultation, negotiation, and liaison.
High-level research, analytical, and writing skills.
Strong organisational and planning skills in managing workload in a busy environment.
IT/data competencies (including Microsoft Office and other IT systems).
Commitment to cultural diversity and equity principles.
Positive attitude, flexibility, and ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team.
