Job Description

The Safer Lives Mobile Service (SLMS) is a specialist 24/7 outreach service that provides critical support to women and children experiencing domestic and family violence. Referred by DV Connect, the Queensland Police Service, and Queensland Health Social Workers, we offer practical assistance to those in motels and awaiting placement in refuges, temporary supported accommodation, or long-term housing solutions.

We are seeking a Safer Lives After-Hours Coordinator to join our team. In this role, you will provide mobile support to women, children, and other victims of domestic and family violence who are facing a housing crisis. You will help connect them with safe, affordable, and appropriate emergency and long-term housing options. Additionally, you will assist the Team Leader in coordinating the operations of the program.

This is a permanent full time employment opportunity with conditions and salary at Level 5 of the SCHADS Award.

Desired Skills and Experience

Key Responsibilities and Requirements:

  • Provide Leadership and Guidance: Utilize your minimum of 5 years' experience in human services, preferably in a senior practitioner or emerging leadership role, to lead and mentor team members.
  • Crisis Management: Respond effectively to crisis situations, employing strong problem-solving skills to handle multiple demands simultaneously in a high-pressure environment.
  • Support After-Hours Team: Work shift times between 12 PM – 8 PM Monday to Friday to assist and support the Safer Lives After Hours team members, ensuring continuous service provision.
  • Ensure Legislative Compliance: Maintain and apply up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, such as the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act 2012 and the Child Protection Act 1999, to all aspects of your work.
  • Client Engagement: Demonstrate experience in working directly with individuals in a human service setting, providing support, advocacy, and assistance to those affected by domestic and family violence.
